Alowyn Gardens is composed of five areas set on four acres designed to appeal to visitors and keen gardeners. There are five hundred trees that form the silver birch forest, an edible garden replete with fruit trees, herbs, vegetables and edible flowers, and a perennial border that flourishes from spring to autumn. There are fifteen varieties of garden spaces with a multitude of plant combinations in the display gardens, while the symmetrical parterre garden is evergreen. Parterre gardens hail back to 15th century French renaissance such as the Chateau de Versailles.

I love the walkway in the parterre garden; do you know the name of the tree with this strange, almost fuzzy and purplish foliage? PS I am no garden expert, so sorry for asking. 😉

No worries. The purplish foliage is part of the wisteria archway and it is interspersed with the trees in the parterre garden.
