Hailed as the world’s most liveable city for the 5th year in a row, Melbourne celebrated its 180th birthday at Docklands last August 31. The Melbourne Regatta, which first took place in 1838, was in full swing with boats sailing around Victoria Harbour’s southern basin. There was a Blessing of the Fleet, a variety of musical entertainment, and free short ferry cruises on classic steamboats as part of the activities lined up. The vessel sailed past Bolte Bridge, Appleton Dock, a Port Melbourne tug boat spewing great gusts of water to present its firefighting capabilities, to head to Footscray Park Landing and back.
