The National Wool Museum History spins the tale of fleece from Australian sheep that spans two hundred years. Geelong and the wool/wool industry have been intertwined for centuries, with its sheep farming beginnings tracing back to 1835 and woolen mills started running in 1868. There are two permanent galleries: Wool Harvest and Fleece to Fabric. The first gallery focuses more on the farming and wool production, while the latter shows the transformation of raw material into fabric and provides information on the production process of the textile industry.
