The Victoria State Rose Garden is the largest public rose garden in Australia. It has four unique shaped designs: the main one is a five petal Tudor Rose; the Federation Leaf is a stylised leaf comprised of 50 beds of Australian bred roses; the rosebud garden is composed of 60 rose varieties; and the heritage border consists of Climbing Species, Old Roses, and Heritage Roses that form a hedge separating it from the mansion. It is the first non-European recipient of the International Garden of Excellence by the World Federation of Rose societies in 2003. The best time to visit is from November to May, and entry is free.

Beautiful photos – thanks for sharing them. I was in Melbourne a week ago and enjoyed looking at the amazing architecture (mainly in Collins Street). Have you done any posts on Melbourne City’s old buildings? If you have, I would love to see them 🙂

That’s nice of you to say; it’s great to hear that you enjoyed your visit. I will be doing some posts on the old buildings (Parliament House next week), but they won’t be posted in succession.

There were quite a number of people at that time, but the grounds are pretty big so it doesn’t come across as crowded. Thanks for the kind words.

Gorgeous colours. Let any man (or woman) try to beat nature…and they will fail.
