Kitesurfing is a sport that bears similarities to popular sports such as wakeboarding and powerkiting. A kite, a kiteboard, and lots of wind are needed to propel the rider to skim across the water’s surface. Waves are not essential to carry the rider along. Flat water offers more variety in terms for performing freestyle as it is easier to navigate for landings and take off. There’s a myriad of conditions to hold the rider’s interest: big jumps, freestyle tricks, ‘surfing’ the waves and embarking on long distance kitesurfing.
