Federation Square is where locals and visitors alike converge in one spot on a regular basis to enjoy the best in entertainment, culture, and tourism experiences. It is home to the Australian Centre for Moving Image, SBS (Special Broadcasting Service), the Ian Potter Centre: National Gallery of Victoria, Deakin Edge, and a host of shops and restaurants. The calendar is packed with over 2,000 events taking place each year. There’s a free guided tour every Monday to Saturday at 11 a.m. for those who want to know more about Melbourne’s cultural heartbeat. Do you have something similar to Fed Square  in your city that everyone visits?

Am contemplating if I like the outside “roof” – it’s kind of busy for my taste. I do like the inside ceiling – very spacious feeling!

I’d say that the architecture tends to elicit strong opinions, but I agree with your take on the inside ceiling.

I wanted to show another perspective to Fed Square, with a particular emphasis on the architectural geometry and textures that combine modern and earthy (pinkish walls and floors) appeal.

I think it’s cool too: it comes across as funky and offbeat for a building. I’m glad you love the photos.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Fed Square is somewhat similar to Gehry’s Getty Museum: Getty has travertine and glass for walls while Fed Square has sandstone blocks, glass, and zinc. There’s a lot of funky architecture here that I plan to post in the future.

What amazing photos! I clicked through to the info on the Square – the programming looks to be just as ambitious as the architecture. I hope to see it in person someday.
