On its third year, 450,000-500,000 people trooped to the CBD to the CBD last 23rd of February from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for White Night 2015. One highlight was Keyframes, luminous plastic figures that used programmed lighting sequences to give the appearance of “movement” in time to the music. A laser light show of ‘fractal’ projections. “Infinite Curve”, was held at the National Gallery of Victoria. Along the Yarra River, the Bollywood themed “Sita’s Garden” of multi-coloured lotus lights floated on the water. At Birrarung Marr, a fire breathing metal dragon dubbed “The Crucible” spewed off flame at regular intervals. The dragon wings were aglow in different hues in between exhales. “Wonderland” consisted of beautifully designed projections with thematic images of Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and The Duchess, to name a few. Feel free to share what you like about the pics.

  1. Beautiful images, well caught! I remember capturing similar on the Sydney Town Hall a few Christmas’s ago, but only on my phone. These are brilliant in their colour, thanks for sharing.

  2. I like this post a lot – White Nights appears to be an amazing experience! Last year in Oaxaca, Mexico, during the Day of the Dead festivities, light shows similar to those at the end of your post were projected onto the front of two big churches, with music of course! Certainly they were not to this scale, but it is easier to truly appreciate what you are showing here!
